I collaborated with three other Monmouth College students to produce this website for WMCR, the college's student-run radio station. Our efforts (part of a project assigned in our Media Production course) created a website that was visually pleasing, appealing to a wide audience, and consistent across all pages. We owe the success of our finished site to the idea that different forms of media influence message construction. That is, we were able to create a website that our instructor liked because we kept the medium (the Internet) as the central focus of our decision-making process; we adapted our message to the channel that would be carrying it to the audience.

We were able to optimize our communication for the Web in several ways. First, we made sure that all the text was concise and easy to scan. Secondly, we focused on creating stylish, consistent art that would appeal to our target audiences and act as a type of credibility for users. We also added common pages (Frequently Asked Questions, About Us, Site Map, etc.) to make our message fit the accepted norms for websites. Overall, I feel that the site effectively reaches the target audiences through the medium of the Internet, and it does so by adapting to fit that medium. NOTE: The WMCR site is best viewed in Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox.
