Bringing Wind Power to Monmouth College
Researh Paper
INTG 402: Green Initiatives
Bringing_Wind_Power_to_Monmouth_College.pdf

During the fall of 2007 I was part of a feasibility study that was conducted for my senior-level Green Initiatives class. This study covered the advantages and disadvantages of wind power in addition to the viability of utilizing wind-generated electricity to cover Monmouth College's electrical needs. The paper submitted here is the synthesis of the entire class's research efforts and conclusions. The findings of this research were disclosed to the president of the college, various deans, professors, and members of the public at a formal presentation.

This paper is included in this section of the website because it is the product of skillful communication within a group setting. At the beginning of the semester the 20-member class was divided up into four groups of four to five students, each group being responsible for handling a different portion of the study. Within my small group I facilitated discussion among the members and kept us focused on the task at hand. When conflict arose between two members of the group, I attempted to help them resolve their differences. When the entire class convened to exchange information I volunteered to lead the discussion, manage the needs of the various groups, and offer suggestions for the structuring of the final product.

The success of my efforts in these group and team contexts is proven by the well-structured paper (presented here), the positive reviews of the professor, and the encouraging comments of those in attendance at the presentation.
